What is an engagement ring?

An engagement ring is traditionally given during a proposal. It symbolizes a promise of future marriage and is typically worn on the left ring finger. In Sweden, it’s common for both women and men to wear engagement rings, although it’s becoming more popular for only the person being proposed to, to receive a ring during the proposal.

Engagement rings are often characterized by:
A central diamond or other gemstone
A stand-out design, often featuring a solitaire stone, a halo setting, or side stones
A style that can be paired with a wedding ring

What is a wedding ring?

A wedding ring is worn after the wedding ceremony and often complements the engagement ring. It’s usually placed closest to the heart – on the inside of the ring finger – with the engagement ring worn above it. Wedding rings tend to have a simpler design, but there are many personal variations to choose from.

Common styles of wedding rings include:
Plain bands in 18k gold or platinum
Eternity rings with diamonds along the band
Matching rings for both partners

What is an eternity ring?

An eternity ring is a band set with diamonds along the entire band or partially around it. It’s often worn as a wedding ring, but it’s also a popular gift to mark anniversaries, the birth of a child, or other meaningful moments – hence the name “eternity”, symbolizing connection and lifelong commitment.

An eternity ring is perfect if you:
want a diamond ring with extra brilliance
would like to pair it with a solitaire engagement ring
are looking for a ring to wear alone or stacked

Should I have one ring or several?

It’s entirely up to you. Some choose to wear both an engagement ring and a wedding ring together, while others prefer to combine both into a single ring. A popular option is to pair a solitaire engagement ring with an eternity wedding ring – for a look that’s both elegant and symbolic.

Tips:
Consider how the rings will sit together – choose designs made to complement each other.
