HIGH-QUALITY DIAMONDS
We want our diamonds to reflect the high quality that lies behind our craftsmanship. Therefore, our diamond quality is above industry standard. Everyone should also be able to afford exceptional diamonds – which is why our prices are not higher compared to most jewelers, even though our quality is.
The color of the diamond
When you talk about white diamonds, you really mean colorless diamonds. The rarest one is diamond which has no color or undertone of color and the classification goes from D down to Z in alphabetical order.
A.P. Shaps believes that color is a personal preference, with some people preferring cool or warm tones. Therefore, we let our customers see different diamond colors in real life and then make a decision that suits them.
What is clarity of a diamond?
Diamonds often have internal and/or external inclusions that mean they are not completely perfect. A diamond is classified based on the number of inclusions, how they are placed, the type of enclosure and how large they are. A diamond that is completely free of inclusions is called Flawless.
A.P. Shaps only works with diamonds that are graded Flawless – SI1 in clarity. Our diamonds are always pure to the naked eye and you will not see any inclusions in your diamond.
What does triple excellent mean?
Only a combination of perfect proportions, symmetry and polish will give maximum brilliance to the diamond. When a diamond is graded Excellent in both polish, symmetry and polish, it is called triple excellent.
A.P. Shaps only works with diamonds that are graded Excellent in cut, polish and symmetry. Which is the highest and most sought-after grading.
What is fluorescence?
Fluorescence is the emission of visible light that is created when an object (diamond) is exposed to ultraviolet light. 35% of all diamonds exhibit some degree of fluorescence. No fluorescence is the most desirable thing in a diamond.
A.P. Shaps offers diamonds that are graded None, Faint and Medium in fluorescence and our diamonds always have excellent luster. This means that fluorescence has not affected the visual appearance or quality of the diamond in any way.
Luster is not graded on the diamond certificate and can therefore only be seen and determined by an experienced gemmologist or diamond grader who has the diamond physically in front of him. Even if luster is not classified, it has a very big effect on the price. Excellent luster gives the diamond sharpness and crispness, which is desirable.
A.P. Shaps only uses diamonds with excellent luster
