How to measure your necklace length

There are a few simple ways to figure out which length suits you best.

Use a necklace you already own

If you have a necklace that sits just right, lay it flat on a table and measure the full length of the chain from the clasp to the end ring. This gives you an exact reference when choosing a new chain.

Measure with a string or measuring tape around your neck

If you don’t have an existing necklace, take a thin strip of paper, a piece of string, or a soft measuring tape and wrap it around your neck where you want the chain to sit. Mark where the ends meet, lay it out flat, and measure it with a ruler in centimeters. That’s the approximate length you should choose.

Think about where you want the necklace to sit

Different lengths create different looks depending on style, neckline, and occasion. Common lengths usually fall around the following:

Short / choker (approx. 35–40 cm): sits high on the neck, close to the neck.
Classic / collarbone length (approx. 40–45 cm): the most common length, perfect for pendants.
Slightly longer (approx. 50–60 cm): falls just below the collarbone and creates a softer look.
Long chain (approx. 70–90 cm): perfect as a statement piece or worn over sweaters and higher necklines.

Chain thickness: what to consider

Besides length, the thickness of the chain makes a big difference to both comfort and overall look:

1,1 mm chain

Our thinnest standard chain. Elegant, subtle, and perfect for small to medium pendants, such as initials, hearts, or smaller diamond pendants.

2 mm chain

Our thicker standard chain. More durable, more visually prominent, and a great choice for larger pendants or if you want a bolder gold chain.
