Designing your own ring is one of the most personal and memorable experiences you can have. At A.P. Shaps in Stockholm, we give you the opportunity to create a truly unique piece of jewellery – whether it’s an engagement ring, wedding band, morning gift, or a custom design for yourself or someone you love.

1. Book a meeting with our jewellery designers
The first step is to book a personal consultation at our boutique on Sturegatan in Stockholm. Here, you’ll meet our experienced jewellery designers and gemmologists who will help bring your ideas to life. Already have a clear vision – or need some inspiration? Either way, we’ll guide you every step of the way, from idea to finished ring.

2. Choose your diamond or gemstone
During the consultation, you’ll have the chance to compare different diamonds and gemstones from Scandinavia’s largest in-house inventory. You’ll learn how colour, clarity, cut, and carat (the four Cs) affect both the appearance and price of a stone – and we’ll help you find the perfect one based on your style and budget. Our gemmologist will explain the intricacies of diamonds and answer all your questions regarding diamonds or coloured gemstones.
We also offer coloured diamonds and gemstones for those who want to create something truly one-of-a-kind. Lately, we’ve seen growing interest in pink and yellow diamonds.
3. Design your own ring
Once you’ve selected your stone, it’s time to create the design. Together with our designer, you’ll go through style, materials, durability, and comfort to create a ring that’s both beautiful and practical for everyday wear.
We offer everything from classic solitaire rings to modern, custom-made designs with personal details. Do you have a specific style or reference in mind? We’re happy to work from inspiration images or existing jewellery.
4. Approve the design and get a quote
In most cases, the design can be approved during the first meeting, and we’ll also provide a quote. If the design is more complex, we’ll create a sketch or digital rendering so you get a clear idea of what the ring will look like before making your decision.
You’re always welcome to make adjustments until you’re completely happy – after all, we’re crafting your dream ring.
5. We craft your ring in our atelier
Once the design is approved, we begin crafting your ring in our Stockholm-based atelier. Our in-house goldsmiths carefully handcraft each piece, and the process typically takes 1-6 weeks depending on the complexity of the design.
In some cases, we may schedule an additional meeting to check the fit before the diamonds are set – ensuring the ring fits perfectly and everything is just right before the final step.
6. Collection and certification
When your ring is complete, we’ll contact you for collection. Your ring will come with:
A.P. Shaps Certificate – confirming your ring was crafted by us.
GIA Certificate – included with all diamonds over 0.30 ct.
Third-party valuation – for pieces in our High Jewelry Collection.
You receive a piece that is made to last a lifetime – in both quality and emotional value.
